Davide was living at Painesville in May, 1913, when his brother Giovanni Gardella and cousin Antonio Gardella immigrated to the United States. Davide Gardella is cited on a passenger ship manifest re-entering to the United States on April 16, 1914, at age 20, travelling to Ashtabula, Ashtabula County, Ohio.
Mr. Gardella registered for the military draft for World War One on June 5, 1917. He was living at Detriot, Michigan, and was the proprietor of a cigar and lunch store.
