Michelina Ostoma

Michelina Ostoma first appears in the Painesville, Ohio, area in 1918.  In America, Michelina Ostoma was known by her married name, Michelina D’Ascanio.

Michelina Ostoma, daughter of Felicia Santangelo, was born on January 30, 1890, at Roccacasale, Italy.  She married Filippo D’Ascanio in 1907.  Michelina died in 1986.  Her body was interred at St. Mary Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.

Michelina Ostoma, age 23, immigrated to the United States on June 10, 1913, travelling to Kentucky.  She was joining her husband, Filippo D’Ascanio, in Kentucky.   The D’Ascanio family moved to Painesville, Ohio, about 1918.

Michelina D’Ascanio became a citizen of the United States on August 27, 1943. Michelina resided at 418 Railroad Street, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, when she was naturalized.

Two of Michelina Ostoma’s sisters also lived in Painesville.  Albina Ostoma  and Maria Ostoma both moved to Painesville about 1918 or 1919.

The children of Filippo D’Ascanio and Michelina Ostoma were as follows:

1.   James V. D’Ascanio was born on April 6, 1915, at Kentucky.  James died on February 20, 1979, at age 63.  His body was interred at St. Mary Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.

2.   Ovidio J. D’Ascanio was born on June 30, 1917, at Kentucky.  Ovidio died on October 6, 1942, at age 25.  His body was interred at St. Mary Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.

3.    Antionette D’Ascanio was born about 1922, at Ohio.  She married Angelo Castello.
