Salvatore Messina

Salvatore Messina first appears at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, in 1916.  He was nine years old. His mother, Caterina, and her three children immigrated to Painesville, Ohio, to join the family’s father, Tommaso Messina. In America, Salvatore Messina was known Sam Messina.

Salvatore Messina, son of Tommaso Messina and Caterina Graziano, was born on Friday, January 11, 1907, at Palermo, Sicily. Salvatore died on May 18, 1989, at age 82.

Salvatore Messina immigrated to the United States on September 28, 1916, at age 9, travelling to 221 Storrs Street, Painesville, Ohio. Sam Messina became a citizen of the United States in 1928. Sam resided at 433 North St. Clair Street, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, when he was naturalized.

In 1949 Mr. Messina was living at Hornell, Steuben County, New York. Salvatore was still living with his parents at 433 North State Street in 1940. He must have moved to Hornell in the 1940’s.
