Giuseppe Palumbo

Palumbo  (Joe) photo 1930ishGiuseppe Palumbo first appears in the Painesville, Ohio, area in 1920.  In America, Giuseppe Palumbo was known as Joseph Palumbo.

Giuseppe Palumbo, son of Michele Arcangelo Palumbo and Maria Carmina Padula, was born on May 20, 1903, at Frosolone, Italy.  Giuseppe died on November 12, 1980, at Homestead II Nursing Home, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, at age 77.  His body was interred at Riverside Cemetery at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.

Giuseppe Palumbo, age 17, immigrated to the United States on November 8, 1920, travelling to Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, joining his uncle, Liborio Padula.  Joseph Palumbo became a citizen of the United States on September 19, 1938. Joseph resided at Fairport Road, Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio, when he was naturalized.  Giuseppe was employed by the Storr’s and Harrison’s Nursery before working for the Diamond Alkali Company.  He retired from the Diamond after 25 years of service.

Giuseppe’s three sisters also migrated to Painesville, Ohio.  Apollonia Palumbo (Pauline Colavecchio) lived in Painesville from 1920 until her death in 1972.  Giuditta Palumbo (Julia Cardina) lived in Painesville from 1920 until her death in 1968.    Filomena  Palumbo (Filomena Cardina) lived in Painesville from 1915 until her death in 1980.

Giuseppe Palumbo’s father, Michele Arcangelo Palumbo, was the brother of Painesville Italians Felice Palumbo and Giacomo Palumbo.
