1940 Census

The Sixteenth United States Census, conducted by the Census Bureau, determined the resident population of the United States to be 132,164,569, an increase of 7.3 percent over the 1930 population of 123,202,624 persons. The census date of record was April 1, 1940.

The State of Ohio had a population o6,907,612, an increase of 3.9%, over the 6,646,697 persons enumerated during the 1930 Census.  Ohio had the fourth largest state population of the United States.

Lake County, Ohio, had a population of 50,020 an increase of 20% over the 1930 Census.
