Maria Baucar

Maria Baucar first appears in the Painesville, Ohio, area between 1920 and 1941.  In America, Maria was known by her married name, Mary Skof. 

Maria was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, near the Empire’s border with Italy.  This area came to belong to Italy in 1918, as a result of the World War One.  After World War Two this area became part of Yugoslavia.  When Maria Baucar immigrated to America this area belonged to Italy.  Maria Baucar was Slovenian.

Maria Baucar was born on September 26, 1900, at Malovse, Slovenia.  She married Joseph Skof.  Maria died in 1970.  Her body was interred at St. Mary Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.

Maria Baucar immigrated to the United States on September 8, 1920, at age 19, travelling to Durbin, West Virginia.  She was joining her brother, Ernest.

Mary Skof became a citizen of the United States on August 25, 1941.  Mary resided at Painesville, Ohio, when she was naturalized.
