Sabastiano DiCarlo

Sabastiano DiCarlo first appears in the Painesville, Ohio, area either 1929 or 1930.  In America, Sabastiano DiCarlo was known as Sebastian DiCarlo.

Sabastiano DiCarlo was born on April 23, 1896, at Novara di Sicilia.  He first married Rosa Rao, daughter of Antonio Rao and Carmella Milici, sometime before 1923, at Sicily.  After Rosa’s death, he married second, Adele Milici, in 1951 at Sicily.  Adele immigrated to the United States in 1951.  Sabastiano died in September, 1975, at age 79.  His body was interred at Riverside Cemetery at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.

Sabastiano DiCarlo, age 27, immigrated to the United States on August 11, 1923, travelling to Wadsworth, Ohio.   He was joining his cousin, Savatore Puglisi, in Wadsworth.  Sabastiano returned to Sicily in 1928.   He returned to Wadsworth, Ohio, in March, 1929.  His daughter, Emma, was born in June, 1929, in Sicily.  Sebastiano DeCarlo became a citizen of the United States on September 26, 1932. Sebastiano resided at 519 Storrs Street, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, when he was naturalized.

In January, 1935, Sabastiano wife, Rosa, and daughter, Emma, immigrated to the United States, joining him in Painesville.

The known children of Sabastiano DiCarlo and Rosa Rao were as follows:

1.   Emma DiCarlo was born on June 1, 1929, at Novara di Sicilia.  She married Carmelo Garofalo in 1955.  Emma died on September 26, 2013, at age 84.
