Antonio DeGasperis

Antonio DeGasperis first appears in the Painesville, Ohio, area between 1907 and 1918.  In America, Antonio DeGasperis was known as Tony DeGasperis.

Antonio DeGasperis, son of Lorenzo DeGasperis and Lucia Iucci, was born on May 23, 1882, at Rome, Italy.  He married first between 1907 and 1922.  The name of his first wife is not known.  He was divorced on June 7, 1922, at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  He married second, Giacoma Maniscoles, daughter of Egidio Maniscoles and Maria DiPerenza, on November 18, 1922, at Cuyahoga County, Ohio.  Giacoma was previously married, and was widowed.  Antonio married third, Harriet Haney, daughter of William Haney and Antoinette Haight, on March 18, 1950, at Geauga County, Ohio. Harriet was known as Harriet Rose when she married Antonio.  She was the widow of Painesville Italian Michele Rossi.  Antonio died in 1960.  His body was interred at Saint Mary Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.

Antonio DeGasperis, age 25, immigrated to the United States on June 20, 1907, travelling to Newark, New Jersey.  He was living at Sora, Campania, Italy, before he immigrated.

Antonio DeGasperis registered for the World War I Draft on September 12, 1918. He was living at Fairport Harbor, Lake County, Ohio. Antonio was employed as a mason for the Diamond Alkali Company.  On the draft card, he listed his “closest” relative as Antoinette Venditti of Chicago, Illinois.  Antoinette Venditti may have been his first wife.

Antonio DeGasparis became a citizen of the United States on September, 1922. Antonio resided at 508 Second Street, Fairport Harbor, Lake County, Ohio, when he was naturalized.

The children of Antonio DeGasperis and Giacoma Maniscoles were:

1.   Libero DeGasperis was born on August 17, 1923, at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  Libero died one month later on September 17, 1923, at 211 Storrs Street, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  His body was interred at Saint Mary Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.

There were no children of Antonio DeGasperis and Harriet Haney.
