Giacoma Maniscalco

Giacoma Maniscalco first appears in the Painesville, Ohio, area in 1922.  In America, Giacoma Maniscalco was known by her married names, Giacomina Bracco, and later Giacomina DeGasperis.

Giacoma Maniscalco, daughter of Egidio Maniscalco and Maria DiPerenza, was born on February 26, 1880, at Villarosa, Sicily.  She married second, Antonio DeGasperis, son of Lorenzo DeGasperis and Lucia Iucci, on November 18, 1922 at Cuyahoga County, Ohio.   Giacoma’s name was Giacomina Bracco (a widow) when she married Antonio DeGasperis.  Giacoma died on December 24, 1936, at 553 Storrs Street, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, at age 56, of breast cancer.  Her body was interred at Saint Mary Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.

Giacoma Maniscalco immigrated to the United States on February 6, 1907, at age 26, travelling to New York City.  She was not married. She was joining a relative, Antonio Bracco, in New York City.  Antonio Bracco may have been her first husband.

Giacoma’s brother, Ignazio Maniscalco, lived in Cleveland, Ohio.  Giacoma Maniscalco may have been related (by marriage) to Painesville Italian, Giuseppe Belvedere.

The children of Giacoma Maniscalco and Antonio DeGasperis were:

1.   Liboro DeGasperis was born on August 17, 1923, at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  Libero died one month later, on September 17, 1923, at 211 Storrs Street, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  His body was interred at Saint Mary Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.
