Lucia DiIanni

Lucia DiIanni first appears in the Painesville, Ohio, area in 1909.  When Lucia immigrated to the United States, Painesville, Ohio, was her destination.  She was accompanied by her husband of six weeks, Donato Scacciavillani.  Donato had previously resided in Painesville.  In America, Lucia was known by her married name, Lucy Square.

Lucia DiIanni, daughter of Gennaro DiIanni and Filomena Incoronata Venditto, was born on November 27, 1889, at Frosolone, Italy.  She married Donato Scacciavillani, son of Felice Scacciavillano and Maria Giovanna Vitolone, on August 5, 1909 at Frosolone, Italy.  Lucia died on August 7, 1974 at Lake County Memorial Hospital at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, at age 84 of heart disease.  Her body was interred at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.

Lucia DiIanni immigrated to the United States on September 20, 1909, at age 19.

The children of Donato Scacciavillani and Lucia DiIanni (all born at Painesville, Ohio) were as follows:


1.  Marie Antonette Square was born on January 17, 1911.  She married Gilbert S. Gladson, son of Scott Gladson and Minetta Gilbert, on October 12, 1940 at Saint Mary Catholic Church at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  Marie died on July 29, 1975 at Lake County Memorial Hospital at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, at age 64 from cancer of the pancreas.  Her body was interred at Riverside Cemetery at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.


2.  Felix Square was born on January 6, 1913.  He was known as Lester Square.  Lester died on January 11, 1989 at University Hospitals at Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, at age 76 of cardiac arrest.  His body was interred at Riverside Cemetery at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.


3.  James Alfred Square was born on June 11, 1915.  He married Mary Theresa Drobnick, daughter of Blase Drobnick and Teresa Avsec, on June 21, 1941 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at Fairport Harbor, Lake County, Ohio.  James died on November 30, 2003, at age 88.  His body was interred at Perry Cemetery at Perry Township, Lake County, Ohio.    


4.   Philomena Gertrude Square was born on January 20, 1918.  She married Vincent Martin Scarpitti, son of Gaetano Scarpitti and Giuseppa Paolucci, on August 30, 1948.  Philomena died on April 19, 1953 at Lake County Memorial Hospital at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, at age 35 of carcinoma of the breast.  Her body was interred at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.


5.   Carmella R. Square was born on August 12, 1919.  She married Aser R. Nurmi, son of Isaac Albert Nurmi and Saima Perakoski, on August 29, 1942 at Saint Mary Catholic Church at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  Carmella died on August 25, 1995 at her home, 187 Grenney Lane, at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, at age 76 of brain cancer (glioblastoma).  Her body was interred at Evergreen Cemetery at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.


6.  Edith Marjorie Square was born on August 16, 1925.  She married first, Harry Smith Carlton, son of Harry Smith Carlton and Elizabeth Pritchard, on Saturday August 18, 1945.  After Harry passed away, Edie married second, Edsel Pfabe, son of Howard Pfabe and Lula Hemphill, on Monday January 18, 1993 at St. Lucy, St. Lucie County, Florida.
