Gennaro DiIanni

Gennaro DiIanni and his wife, Filomena Incoronata Venditto, first appear in the Painesville, Ohio, area about 1915.  Gennaro and his wife migrated to Painesville from Akron, Ohio.  In America, Gennaro DiIanni was known as James Dianni.

Gennaro DiIanni, son of Donato Rocco DiIanni and Mariantonia Rivellino, was born on February 26, 1857 at Macchiagodena, Italy.  He married Filomena Incoronata Venditto, daughter of Valentino Venditto and Maria Colozza, on September 17, 1881 at Macchiagodena, Italy.  Gennaro died on April 11, 1928 at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, at age 71.  His body was interred at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.

Gennaro DiIanni, age 53, immigrated to the United States on August 2, 1910, travelling to Akron, Ohio, joining his son, Donato Carmine DiIanni.  He was travelling with his wife, his son, Felice DiIanni, and daughter, Giuseppa DiIanni.  Another daughter, Lucia, migrated to Painesville in 1909.

The children of Gennaro DiIanni and Filomena Incoronata Venditto were as follows:

1.  Donato Carmine DiIanni was born on March 8, 1882, at Macchiagodena, Italy.  He married Agata Palazzo, daughter of Filippo Palazzo and Caterina Termini, on January 18, 1908 at Summit County, Ohio.  Donato died on April 18, 1956, at Akron, Ohio, at age 74.  He immigrated to the United States in1900.  His common name in the United States was Dan Dianni.

2.  Antionetta Domenica DiIanni was born on September 11, 1886, at Macchiagodena, Italy.  She married Giuseppe DiNuoscio, son of Filippo DiNuoscio and Vincenza Fraraccio, on November 26, 1908 at Frosolone, Italy.  Antionetta died on October 6, 1976, at St. Thomas Hospital Medical Center, Akron, Summit County, Ohio, at age 90. She immigrated to the United States in 1909.

3.  Lucia DiIanni was born on November 27, 1889, at Frosolone, Italy.  She married Donato Scacciavillani, son of Felice Scacciavillano and Maria Giovanna Vitolone, on August 5, 1909 at Frosolone, Italy.  She immigrated to the United States in 1909.  Lucia died on August 7, 1974 at Lake County Memorial Hospital at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, at age 84 of heart disease.  Her body was interred at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.

4.  Giuseppa DiIanni was born on May 10, 1897, at Frosolone, Italy.  She married Nicola DiCristofaro, son of Cristofaro DiCristofaro and Maria Donata Scacciavillani, on November 18, 1916 at Saint Mary Catholic Church at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  She immigrated to the United States in 1910.  Giuseppa died on May 9, 1987 at her daughter’s home, 1776 25th Street, at Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio, at age 89 of ademocarcinoma lungs.  Her body was interred at Holy Cross Cemetery at Akron, Summit County, Ohio.

5.  Felice DiIanni was born on February 22, 1900, at Frosolone, Italy.  He married Michelina DiCiurcio, daughter of Giovanni DiCiurcio and Lucia Mancini, about 1929.  He immigrated to the United States in 1910.  Felice died on March 17, 1971, at his home, 304 Fairport-Nursery Road, Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio, at age 71.  His body was interred at Riverside Cemetery at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.
