Lucia Battista

Lucia Battista first appears in the Painesville, Ohio, area in 1907.  In America, Lucia Battista was known as Lucy Battista, then after she married, by her married name, Lucy Campana.

Lucia Battista, daughter of Pasquale Battista and Maria Angela Fortunata, was born on April 29, 1894, at Casalciprano, Italy.  She married Carmine Campana, son of Michele Campana and Angelantonia Iannantuono, on December 3, 1916, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Painesville, Ohio.  Lucia died on Thursday June 21, 1945 at Lake County Memorial Hospital, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, at age 51 of pneumonia.  Her body was interred at St. Mary Cemetery at Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.  At the time of death, Lucia resided at 485 Henry Street, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.

Lucia Battista, age 13, immigrated to the United States on November 24, 1907, travelling to 109 Storrs Street, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, joining her father, Pasquale Battista.  She was travelling with her mother, Maria Angela Fortunata, brother, Donato, and brother, Nunzio.

Lucia Battista Campana became a citizen of the United States on August 27, 1943.  Lucia resided at 485 Henry Street, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, when she was naturalized.

The known children of Lucia Battista and Carmine Campana were as follows:

1.   Michael Campana was born about 1917, at Ohio.

2.  Paul P. Campana was born on January 6, 1919, at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  He married Mary Szabo on June 25, 1949 at Fairport Harbor, Lake County, Ohio.  Paul P. died on November 27, 2008, at Cardinal Woods Nursing Home, Madison, Lake County, Ohio, at age 89.  His body was interred at Perry Cemetery at Perry, Lake County, Ohio.

3.  Angela Campana was born about 1920, at Ohio.

4.  Edith Campana was born on August 22, 1930.
