Nicola Gentile

Nicola Gentile first appears in the Painesville, Ohio, area in 1905.

Nicola Gentile, son of Giovanni Gentile and Maria Carmina D’Orazio, was born about 1871, at Frosolone, Italy.

Nicola Gentile first immigrated to the United States on February 23, 1900, travelling to Troy, Rensselaer County, New York.  He was joining his brother-in-law, Michele Colarusso.  Nicola Gentile re-enters the United States on March 10, 1905, travelling to Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  He was joining his brother, Berardino Gentile, in Painesville.  According to the ship manifest, Nicola lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from 1901 to 1903.

Two of Nicola Gentile’s siblings lived, at some time, in Painesville.  His sister, Maria Orazia Gentile immigrated to, and settled in Painesville in 1906.  His brother, Berardino Gentile, immigrated to Painesville in 1904.  Four of Nicola’s siblings settled in Troy, New York: Cosimo (1874-1953), Filomena (1876-1914), Francesca (1883-1960), and Lucia (1888-1933).

Nicola probably left Painesville sometime before 1910.
