Filippo Colavecchio

Filippo Colavecchio first appears in the Painesville, Ohio, area in about 1895.  In America, Filippo Colavecchio was known as Philip Colavecchio.

Filippo Colavecchio was born about 1853, at Frosolone, Italy.  He married Maria Carmina Pollutro about 1876. 

Filippo Colavecchio first immigrated to the United States in 1894 (more probably, 1895 or 1896).  He returned to Italy in 1901.  Filippo Colavecchio is shown to re-enter United States on March 23, 1909, travelling to Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  He was joining his brother-in-law, Bartolomeo Colavecchio, in Painesville.  Filippo was travelling with his youngest son, Nicola Colavecchio.  The ship manifest indicated that Filippo lived in Painesville, Ohio, from 1894 to 1901.

Filippo Colavecchio was enumerated for the 1910 Census of the United States, on April 29, 1910, living at Lake Road, Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.  According to the 1910 Census, Filippo was employed as a laborer for the nursery business.  He was probably employed by the Storrs and Harrison Nursery.

In 1911, Filippo’s son, Felicantonio Colavecchio immigrated to Painesville, Ohio.  Filippo returned to Italy sometime before World War One.

The children of Filippo Colavecchio and Maria Carmina Pollutro (all born at Frosolone, Italy) were as follows:

1.   Domenicantonio Colavecchio was born in February, 1877.  He married Maria Felicia Carderelli.

2.   Teresa Colavecchio was born in February, 1880.

3.   Filomena Colavecchio was born in February, 1883.

4.   Teresa Colavecchio was born in March, 1885.

5.   Maria Cristina Colavecchio was born in January, 1889.

6.   Felicantonio Colavecchio was born on May 21, 1890.  Felicantonio died in February, 1972, at Waterbury, New Haven County, Connecticut, at age 81.  Felicantonio Colavecchio immigrated to the United States on May 23, 1911, at age 21, travelling to Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.

7.       Nicola Colavecchio was born in November, 1895.  He immigrated to the United States on March 23, 1909, at age 13, travelling to Painesville, Lake County, Ohio
