Nicola Colavecchio

Nicola Colavecchio first appears in the Painesville, Ohio, area in 1909.  In America, Nicola Colavecchio was known as Nick Colavecchio.

Nicola Colavecchio, son of Filippo Colavecchio and Maria Carmina Pollutro, was born in November, 1895, at Frosolone, Italy.

Nicola Colavecchio immigrated to the United States on March 23, 1909, at age 13, travelling to Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  He was joining his uncle, Bartolomeo Colavecchio, in Painesville.  He was enumerated for the 1910 Census of the United States, on April 29, 1910, living at Lake Road, Painesville Township, Lake County, Ohio.  He was living in the household of his father, Philip Colavecchio.  He was employed as a laborer for a nursery (probably the Storrs and Harrison Company).

Nicola Colavecchio’s father, Filippo, migrated to Painesville before 1900.  His brother, Felicantonio Colavecchio, immigrated to the United States in 1911, travelling to Painesville.
