Giovanni Cardegna

Giovanni Cardegna first appears at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio, in 1904.  Painesville was Giovanni’s destination when he immigrated to America.

Giovanni Cardegna, son of Domenico Cardegna and Luigia Farina, was born on Wednesday, July 8, 1857, at Frosolone, Isernia Province, Molise, Italy.  Giovanni married Maria Carmina Fazioli, daughter of Giovanni Fazioli and Felicia Gentile, on September 29, 1883, at Frosolone, Italy.

Giovanni Cardegna immigrated to the United States on March 18, 1904, at age 46, travelling to Painesville, Lake County, Ohio.  He was joining his nephew Bartolomeo Colavecchio in Painesville.  Giovanni arrived in the United States at the Port of New York City aboard the ship SS Prinz Adalbert.

Giovanni Cardegna was the first cousin of Painesville Italians Cosmo Cardegna, Nicandro Cardegna, and Filippo Cardegna.

Giovanni Cardegna probably returned to Italy sometime before 1910.  He was not enumerated in the 1910 Federal Census as living in Painesville.
